Hey guys, this is off topic, but I bought a 1993 Buikc Lesabre and for the heat and air, it only comes out of the top by the windshield and the floor - always comes out of both places but never the vents that blow out of the dash....I am wondering what I may need to check out to fix this?
It has the push button controls, not a knob to turn...is there some sort of vacuum valve that may be sticking? Thank you for any help you can provide.

I agree, sounds like a vacuum supply issue. I bet that the shutters are in the default position. I had a Chevy Astro van that I ended up replacing the supply line on. It was some sort of plastic tubing that failed. As the others have said, Look for the vacuum accumulator under the hood and trace all the lines from there. A service manual may come in handy.

Two things come to mind, but kind of hard to tell without looking. First of all, check on the firewall out under the hood, there should be a black plastic box about in the center, maybe a little to the drivers side that shoud have two vacuum lines hooked up to it,(this is your vacuum bulb, it holds the extra vacuum for switching of vents) it is real easy for one of those lines to come unplugged, look close and make sure they are both hooked up.
The other thing would be the programmer under the pass side dash, usually very expensive and hard to diagnose sometimes, but you can still check the linkages,(usually this only causes problems with the temp doors). Other than that, it may be time to visit your local GM dealer, they may cost a bit more, but they have the correct manuals and tools to diagnose the problem and usually you can have the problem repaired a little more quickly.

Hope this helps.

You might look under the hood to see if you have a vacumm supply tank. It could be broken and allowing a vacumm leak or a vacumm supply line has come off or even broken. My son-in-laws Mustang did the same thing. It was a broken supply line.

Not sure about GMs but Chryslers the default position for the air doors is Defrost. No vacuum and they are in defrost. On my 92 Caravan a lot of times climbing a small hill all of a sudden the A/C switches to blowing out defroster if I get it to downshift the air will come back out the right vents.
