I notice in your pics there are no sunflowers to be seen but all that goofy weed in the fence rows is still alive and well. If you sell that crop you could buy an air conditioned cab for the IH

I really ought to rip those fences out. Only thing stopping me is the thought of that ol' boy who must have worked so darned hard puttin' 'em in. :>)

Kind of funny that you mention that. I was talking with the guy that grew up on our farm before we bought it, got to talking about the newest pasture we planted and mentioned that we were going to pull out the old fence and put in new. He said I was going to ruin all his hard work. His dad made him put that fence up when he was a kid, I told him if it made him feel better he could help pull it out. He said he was going to be busy that day, go figure.

My wife's uncle (retired dairy farmer) used to love making fence. His boys all say they call fencing the "f" word. They like to tell the story about the day they were all out building and/or repairing fence when the discussion turned to how much the old guy enjoyed doing it. The boys started quizzing him "would you rather fence or go to a movie?" "Oh, I'd a lot rather fence than go to a silly movie." etc etc. Finally the bell rang at the house indicating dinner was ready. The boys said "c'mon dad, it's time to eat". "You boys go ahead, I'll stay here a do a little more first". So now the legend gets retold about how their dad would rather fence than eat.

I would not worry. He probably had a fine time doing it. Didn't have to sit around the house listening to the wife nag him about not getting that fence done. Or maybe the boys did it with him bossing the show. You could contemplate which way it was while you trace their footsteps in reverse... Then you could try to remember just where it was each time you work that piece of ground. Don't think you will get any complaints from him.
