Bought a new pull type 42" lawn sweeper out of the showroom at my local JD dealer last september, it was only used twice before being put away for the winter, then was used twice this year before I took it back to the dealership I bought it from to have repairs done to it. It has a 1 year warranty on it and its a good thing because I found it was poorly designed, and not even close to being built heavy enough, so after just 4 uses, it's pretty well whipped. John Deere has had it for a couple weeks now and I haven't got it back yet, so I am without and I called the dealer and they didn't want to give me a loaner while they wait for the parts. They had their mechanic look it over and they agreed it is a POS in design, it was also the only one they ever sold, don't even remember even seeing a John Deere sweeper in their show room and now they got a several models of AG-Fab on display which are better built, but at the time this John Deere was the only one they had. This sweeper I bought wasn't actually built by John Deere, it was some other company that made it for John Deere I guess for a real short time and is no longer even offered they told me. So I paid $330 for a total piece of junk that after just about 8 acres of lawn clippings is about ready for the dumpster. So, what went wrong with it you ask?, well for starters, the front of the sweeper caved in when I dragged it over a partial pile of lawn clippings previously collected, and the metal is so thin, once it caved, there is no strength left to it, the JD mechanic tried to straighten it, but found it simply pops right back in into the brushes as soon as you start to go with it pulling it by hand, and the whole front easly flexes with your hand. They used these cheap plastic gear covers to cover the lousy plastic gears, one cover, the little dinky plastic latches broke off, the plastic gears started to shred. The bag was designed so the frame promply chaffes a hole in each side through the material where the bag rubs between the bag frame, and the frame on the other part of it, so thats obviously not going to last long. I am very dissatified with it, I had a Craftsman bagger I had bought back about 8yrs ago, and finally retired that after the bag material started letting go, and that wasn't treated one bit different. I was actually hoping John Deere would take it back, it's a total piece of junk, I'd rather not own it, and I told them if they were to fix it all back up, I'd most likely have it in again next month with the same problems all over again, and they agreed it wasn't abuse, but rather poor design, but they called JD with the warranty claim and I guess must be JD wanted them to fix it. I still don't have it, it's been a couple weeks since they got it, they tell me the parts aren't even in yet, but I need one now!. I heard something about a lemon law that if the same things go wrong with it X number of times during the warranty period, John Deere has to buy it back?. Basically almost every part on the thing is getting replaced, and only after 8 acres of lawn clippings!!!!. I really don't want to own this thing!, is there a way out if it?, I think if I just trade it, I'll really lose out on my money.
