If I buy a tractor in Canada on Ebay, how hard is it to bring it across near Detroit. Do I now have to get a passport to enter Canada? Is clearing customs a problem?

Dunno about Canada.
If you were trying to bring it across our southern border you could just pick up a dozen or two passengers and drive it across.
Seems like no one cares what comes across there.

I guess you are buying from an individual. If he doesn't know what to do go through a dealer to get the paper work. There is I think a small charge for some documentation but thats about it. Agricultural equipment is sold and shipped both ways across the border all the time. You won't need a passport for now but a valid drivers lic. Good luck..... .

After this year all US citizens will need a passport to return from Canada or Mexico. Might take 6-8 weeks now to get a passport, longer delay later in the year as more people apply. Current cost is about $200.
