I would say that you have either a woren shifter cam or a broken shifter roller or broken detent spring . To repair you must remove the deck remove the hdy. line that go over top of the range transmission cover if it has them clean the area well remove the side cover as when you pull the top cover the rev. shift rod comes with it and you stqand a good chance of loosen the woodwrof key on that shaft. Also the rev. shift fork falls off to the side . Get a copy of the range transmision cover parts list and a break down of the rev. shift linkage and study it . Now if the tractor has been updated with the new spring loaded park lock you have to block the park lock in the unlock posision before you remove the top cover . Caution the park lock spring is heavy and can and will remove fingers . If the tractor has the org. park lock now is the time to update it . Also while in there now is the time to fix any woren rev. parts . Look for any extra slope and fix or replace at this time. from the shifter all the way down . This is one of them jobs that you need three hands , so help from a buddy helps a bunch. When you pull the side cover you will loose about a gallon of Hy Tran maybe a shade move so there is no need to drain the rearend.
