I had the chance to operate a 2-85 for several summers. In my opinion (for what it's worth) it's a good, stout solid tractor (basically a White-branded Oliver 1850). It had a 354 Perkins six cylinder with pretty good power and fuel economy (I pulled a 4-16" White plow with no lack of power). The platform was nice also- pretty open. We never had any problems with the tractor. Price- $9000 with a loader and 7500 hours seems high. I would pay $9000 for a very nice condition 2500 hour 2-85 in the midwest. Good luck whatever you decide, the 2-85 was a pretty good tractor.

hey ! its one of those deals. if you bought it and used it for years and had no major problems, it was worth 9 grand thats better then paying 5 grand and having big problems. talk with the owner, see it you can find out where he got his parts, talk with them. some times you have to go with your gut feeling. its always a gamble buying a used tractor
