Looking to purchase and restore either a Ford 9600 or IH 1466. Does anyone know if either have more of a parts availability issue? Still trying to decide - I like the look of the 1466 but we had a Ford 9600 many years ago and it was a hosscat.

There would be alot more parts available for the 1466 because there were alot of them made, plus some of the parts were the same as some of the parts from the 1066 (of which IH made about a zillion tractors).
I'm not saying IH is any better or worse as a tractor, its just that a lot more of them were made.

There probably were more IHs made but parts havnt been a problem for the 9600 Ive been going through. The dealer still supports most every part and Ive had no problem finding salvage parts at a yard in MO. Also some local individuals partin a few out around here. And as I work on different models of fords, I find many similarities. The 8000 9000 8600 9600 8700 9700 and the TWs share many parts. Iwouldnt be affraid of either trator but would learn towards the ford just for personal prefference.
