Is the hydrualic oil from Wal-Mart any good for short term use.Just bought IH 184 and the hydraulics currently don't work.I won't to flush out system and change oil and filter and try and get working and than put in the high price oil from IH for $30.00 a 2 gal jug. This tractor has been setting for at least 2yrs except for moving to get at other equiptment last fall stored in an old barn about to fall down by the looks of it.

I change all oils in my tractors, once a year. I have used Wally world oil for about 12 years and have had NO problem with it. In fact, I think its better than the IH oil. For motor oil, I use rotella only.
Good Luck.....

Does the IH use wet clutches or brakes? The oil has to be wet clutch compatable. If it doesn't say compatable,it isn't. You will end up in a mess like the new owner of an abused 4430 in a previous posting.

I've never heard of any oil-related problem coming from using the Wally World oil in anything.

I'm comfortable running it full time, a flush would be fine.

Pi$$ on Wal- Mart, the Chinese are getting rich off places like that, I would pay double to buy oil from my local CASE dealership, they will be there when I need them, will Wal- Mart? Hy-Tran and Case TCH are proven products.

That's your choice to buy where you want to.. however.. between 2 of my tractors.. I use 100 quarts of UTF fluid. Oh.. and then there's the other 7 tractors that will need 26 more gallons of utf.. At the price the dealer charges.. I'd have to take out a second mortgage... At dealer prices.. that's about 1890.$ worth of utf.. at walmart and tsc prices, that drops to 630$.. that's a huge difference.

I buy my crankcase oil from NAPA, and i buy my filters and parts from my dealer, as well as letting the dealer do some of the more complicated repairs.. etc.

Are you aware that CASE does not exist anymore? Neither does International. They were sold off long ago to a foreign company. I believe the correct term for the huge corporate conglomerate is Case New Holland Global right now. But wait a couple months, they will sell off and re-organize again and get a new name.

And I believe it has been proven that there are only 3 or so major oil companies producing the oil we use in our hydraulics and engines, they just change the labeling on the bottles.

And I believe that after the years that Wal-Mart has been around and sold a good oil product with their name on it that they are "proven" as well.

And thats a good thing? Maybe you can go work as a greeter at one of those wal marts and make $6.50 an hour for 28 hours a week. You wouldn't even be able to afford gas for your 85 ranger 4x4.
