Can anyone tell me what the correct amount of motor oil is required in my Allis Chamlers D10? I just drained out the oil and there was approx. 4 GALLONS in the crankcase.!!! Is this correct?

That is not correct at all. I would check the oil for antifreeze. It sounds like you may have a bad freeze plug. Check the cooling system and see if it is really low. I doubt you would have pulled the wrong plug, the engine oil plug is pretty far away from the rest of the plugs, but I guess it can happen sometimes. If your D10 has hydraulics, which I think are driven off of the distributor drive, that pump could have a bad seal in it, but if you just drained it after sitting, probably a freeze plug. Not sure where they are in that tractor, but generally there is one on the top of the head, back of the head and one or two on the block. Good luck and hope you get it figured out.

Did you pull the right plug? I didn"t think you could even get 4 gallons into it if you tried...
