Forget legal or not -- driving a tractor at night is asking to get killed.

Kinda depends on the size of the tractor for that to be true, now doesn't it. At work, we have plenty of tractors ( articulating ) that a car would be a 'hood ornament' for.

Here in Michigan, you must have a escort vehicle from dusk to dawn.

Are you sure that is the law? I never heard in Michigan that you need an escort vehicle, all I know is that you need to have SMV and after dark you cannot be over 102 inches and you need lights. The owner of my Agco dealer got a $900 ticket from some state pig with nothing better to do (our twit govenor wants the money) because he was towing a mo/co down M-55 after dark and he even had flashers on it and he says you can get ticketed if you have a SMV and are going over 25 MPH. I was followed last summer for a couple miles at 2 A:M by a county mounty while I was driving my White and mower down the road, I think he was thinking about pulling me over but he never did.

Thats Odd because I never see a tractor with an escort vehicle in Michigan. Far as I know rules are SMV sign and a Red tailight.

My bad.
Should be "You need a escort vehicle if you have NO tail lights on your equipment."

Call NYS DOT instead of guessing...
