My grape vines are about 10 years old....when they started barring, I had grapes for a couple years.....then each year since, the grapes get the size of large peas and then the bottom of each turns black..that is the end of them...any ideas? thanks Don

Have you pruned your grapes lately?? They need to be pruned heavily every year. That would explain the small size anyway. Let me know, I have a small vineyard and orchard and also teach horticulture at a high school. I should be able to help.

I do a bunch of work for a winery in ne ohio..I have noticed that when they plant a fresh area , they bare grapes within 2 years..At 10 years , they're probably getting into the "Golden Years" of a grape vine..They cultivate , spray , maintain almost 200 acres of grapes..I would suggest getting in touch with your local extension agent or university for an accurate answer to your problem...

it MIGHT be pierce's disease or plain ol' black rot. i had something similar happen to mine and the vine eventually died. maybe something about the climate or soil that causes it.
