Looks like MORE than $160 to me! Got a friend in construction that patronizes the local CAT emporium- he jokes that if you spend less than $200, they knock off a buck because they don't have to provide a sack- you can just put the stuff in your pocket.

I'd say you did ok. I had a fella here last week that wants me to cut soft copper head gaskets for him on my CNC plasma system. Deere is getting 90 bucks apiece for an unstyled A head gasket now.

Hey tim, you get immune to the "sticker shock" it after awhile. I just bought a centralizer assembly for a customers rock drilling machine. Basically their two identical rectagular blocks that when put together have a hold through the middle to guide the drill steel. Their about 6" high, 4" wide, and 2" thick. To get the both of them cost a tad over $1200.....And their considered wear parts so they get changed pretty regular.....

Sure it does. I've spent more than that and walked out with parts in my pocket. Ya git used to it. That reminds me, I need to go to McCook on Monday and will pick up some repairs for my hay tools. Maybe I can post a pic of that!

Howard,

I toyed with the idea breifly of putting new skid shoes on my swather 'cause they are gettin' a little thin.

After calling the dealer and learning that they wanted $147 apiece, I figured I'd let 'em skid along the way they are fer another year. Think I'll do like Jimmy says and weld some old truck spring leafs to 'er. :>)

Quarter inch thick steel plate works fine- lasts for many years.

That is one of MANY reasons we bought a discbine. We were the first in the area when they came out to get one and will never ever use a sickle type again. Our knives (about a dozen I think) are a couple bucks a piece and there is one bolt holding them on. No guards and no plug-ups! But when we did have one of those godforsaken beasts we always welded grader blade or cutting edge material on them to make 'em last longer

I wish had known you needed the bearings and seals. I have a set in the garage. If I can find the operators and parts manual you can have them.
