I knocked down 20 acres of wheat this afternoon and then double raked it. Got to the last round and one of the wheels decided to self destuct. I'll put some teeth in in the morning and then rake the alfalfa too. I bet there aint more'n a dozen bales on the whole 50 acres or so. Pretty sad.

Here's a veiw from the seat

Our hay is about six inches tall and it will be another month before cutting it. There still is corn and beans to be planted around here.

Well, the grass is now up to my ankles, maybe a little higher in places. The pressure irrigation system blew up night before last so I had to spend the afternoon yesterday digging a hole and gluing some 3" sch 40 pvc pipe together. We're watering again today!

We had a good winter, lots of water in the hills filling up the reservoirs. Should be a good hay year.

Heck 10" of rain the last several days in NH.

Looks I need to put rice tires on the rigs before I can enter any field :>

Still waiting for rain to quit, talking most of this week yet so will try to start next weelk cutting. I just finish assembling a rake the style like you have in picture. Not my preference here as hay balls up under the pipeframe work n m y area.

No hay to speak of down here in AZ... well there is some irrigated alfalfa, haven't been down that way to see what stage it's at lately.

Back up in ND we don't really think about haying until the end of June, Dad usually won't get involved until after the 4th of July. My brother and I usually get the ball rolling for him. :o)

Can't wait to climb up on my H and start knocking down some hay:

How does the engine on that rake work anyway? Appears to be headed in the wrong direction.

What kind of setup is that and how does that rake work. I pull a 10 wheel rake(5 on each side) but i pull it behind the tractor and not with a engine looking thing on it. What does that do.

What that is is an old fertilizer applicator dolley. The rake is 3 point hitch. I added the old engine for a counter weight. Kinda Mickey-mouse but it does work nice.

Hi Guy,

I'm doin' great out here in the wilds. Baler is ready to rock and roll, workin' on that silly swather now and got my eye on refrubishin' the old rake.

Kinda worried 'bout our friend down south tho. Didn't know is was quite as dry as that.

Allan

howdy Allan, are you gettin ready to change that suspension spring on your swather?I got all the changes made to my three point hitch that I built last year.Got it all clean up and primered now just waiting to get out to the garage tomorrow night after work to get it and the hood and grille painted.Dont got much left to do on it just keep gettin hut down mid stroke.Kills your ambition after a while.I will get back on it tomorrow.God you should see the pasture really need a mower, rake and baler.Looks like some decent hay, just wish I had some critters to feed it to,if I did i would split the hay with my buddy for him to cut and bale it.Might talk to him about giving it to him no sense in it wasting. It aint got hardly a weed in it just right around the fence on the west side of the pasture. Good to hear from you....RBF

Rain this wekend - about 2.5 inches ought to start to get the hay growing pretty well. Patted the baler on the flywheel when I put the grain drill in the toolshed last week. Baler is all greased, and ready to go. Bought baler twine this week. $32 a bale this year, up from $26 last year. That and $3 a gallon gas, is going to make my hay more costly for the customers this year! don"t even ask me about putting up hay until end of JUNE!

The only gas you'd get in Manitoba for $ 3.00 is stolen gas.

Oh don't worry about us Allan, we ain't used to much.

A neighbor had twin boys about ready to start school. One day I saw him with a garden hose spraying water on the house roof. He said he was afraid the other kids at school would be talking about rain and his boys didn't know what it was.

Haven't done any more then hook up the equipment so far. Been to cool and they keep calling for rain. I have a rake sort of like that one but its only half that size and is a 3 point set up.

I know what you mean. We got rian here yesterday evening and it was still raining at midnight. I figure the first week they say we will have 5 days with out rian I'll get started cutting, but who knows that maybe in June. The fun part is going to be that after I get my hay done I have to teach a friend how to do his hay and also keep his equipment up and running.

I have excellent luck with the national weather service website. You can go there and see all the same stuff the tv weathermen have and you can just about forecast it yourself. You can type in you zipcode and get like a 7 or 8 day forecast that is usually pretty good. Here is their site..... ....
