Michigan is just a mess right now. It just keeps raining and drizzling and it is chilly outside. I am from the middle of the state and it seems like we have been stuck in a holding pattern of drizzle and clouds. I have not seen much of the sun in many days now. It is green and lush but is sure putting off outside activities. Michigan can trick a farmer into planting earlier than he should. I think we should just all goof off every year until memorial day and then farm. Even if it is 80 degrees in april outside. It is just always playing a trick on us. Dad knew though, he just kept saying,"we got lots of time yet to plant". I gues he has seen a lot more of these wet cold springs than I have! Not complaining entirely though because a lot of guys around the country can't buy a drop of rain. We don't need a drought. Later.

Parts of MA / NH / ME now at one FOOT of rain... in reply to davpal, 05-13-2006 17:31:06
And another 3-4" expected through Monday night before the heavy rain bands end and settle into showers for the rest of the week...

If there is any up side...it's been a relatively slow building taking place over several days so it doesn't seem like there's been many "emergency" situations and they're staging the evacuations in good order.

We are about 50 miles west of Pierre SD and we are some that "can't buy a drop of rain"!! We haven't had a good rain since June of last year. About the only rain we have had since then has been a 10 minute thundershower that might drop less than 1/4 inch of moisture. We did have a good snowstorm in the middle of March that did some good. You are more than welcome to send some of your moisture back this way! We will take it!

I feel bad for you guys out there having that drought. It can make a person just about go crazy waiting for it to rain. We had a very bad flood in Michigan in 1986 and in the following year in 1987 we had a drought that would not end. I thought I was going to lose my mind before it finally rained. There was a lot of talk on peoples wells drying up. It was just crazy. We have had a fairly good balance up here for a while now. Seems like we have less summer and less winter. Just a lot of long periods of in between! Good luck.

Real wet here in the Thunb too. I remember reading an article about no-till farming in the Michigan Farmer several years ago. It said that it rains 80% of the time on the 18th of May in Michigan. Just came a little early this year.

In my area a lot of the corn is up. Maybe this rain will keep the frost away.

Ditto in CT...

I think all the Dairy farmers got their fields planted already on the early side since we had a very, very dry March & April so there was nearly no mud season.

Most of the farmers got there crops in down here. Seen some corn up already. It rain all day here. I think it"s got to wet for the ducks.
Going to be a few days to get in the fields. From what I hear this low front is going to be parked over Michigan for a few more days

Well, round here in IA everybody but me has all their crops planted. Me, I haven't even started planting beans. Corn's up already, though.

Been kinda rainy/misty/drizzly and overcast the last 5 days, but the forecast suggests it's all supposed to dry off after Mom's done crying over her rose.

SW Ohio is also a wet, cold mess. It has been raining since Tuesday, and the forecast literally shows no end in sight.

And here I thought God promised never to flood the earth again..

HE DID promise! It may seem wet, but probably not NEAR as wet as then! Cheer up! It'll clear up soon enough and then we can all complain about how hot it is! 8^)
