Hi All,

I really need to replace a broken suspension spring in my 495 swather. Darned thing is about 8" in diameter and 'bout a yard long.

Big spring inside of a bigger spring and it's located clear down under the guts of the machine.

Could one of you fellas run over here and "throw" this thing in fer me real quick? This is starting to look more and more like..... .groan, work! :>(

I can't come this weekend. I think I have to go fishing or something. I'd be glad to send you my spring compressor tho!

Have you checked to see if they are still available. Some are not finding out, robbed off parts unit. Not sure if it was that exact model thou, can't remember for sure. Do have a 8312 disc mow co and a 16ft center pivot unit still availbale thou that would match your colors. otherwise you may have to just go thru spring company, have had to do that before. did you do the sickle?

Hi Rick,

Can't believe it; really had a good day today.

Bought two of these double springs for a total of $211. I figured, heck at $100, I might as well have a spare.

I inspected them before they were removed from the other machine to make darned sure the inner springs were okay and was really surprised at just how easy they do come off.

Heavy suckers, tho. Bet they weigh in at over 100 lbs. apiece.

Allan

What is that cab tractor doing?

Get out into the real world - out of the cab -

No really - I usually don't have a big problem with most springs - just a lot of turning on the tightener screw - I don't think i would do it in transport position though -

Allan

Do I remember right that a week or so ago you were wondering what to do with the spare time on you hands? Just keep telling yourself, Its only work if you'd rather be doing something else.

John

Mutterin' is right!

Come to think of it, I'm already doin' that! Probably be leavin' cuss marks on the thing before this is done. :>)

Wife says to go trade it off fer one of those new fangled "self compelled" outfits with the silly air conditioning and all. What kinda fun is that anyways? :>(

Air conditioning on a haying machine? who'da thunk it? Actually A/C is nice, until you have to get out and work on the silly thing, and then you suffer twice as much.

Awful long drive. I am 150 miles to NE and then drive clear across the state. Plus I have never done one of those.

Also I haven't put a bean in the ground yet.

Just keep reminding yourself that you are having fun, somedays I have to remind myself more often than others;-)

Be right there, May have to bring the wife and all the animals in the Ark. Still raining here. Wish I could spread it out to you guys that need it, like florida right now. That neighbor of yours, he has nothing to do between planting and harvest. You ought to take pity and let him have fun with you, at least this once. lol Bob

That's not our old buddy's tractor, so I think he's doing outside mechanical work on neighbors stuff to make ends meet. You know how expensive farming can be nowadays. Harley
