I have another vehicle problem. It's a '97 S10 with a four cylinder engine. It won't start if the engine is warm. It starts and runs great if it is cold. If you wait about 45 minutes for the engine to cool down, it will start and run ok. I was thinking maybe the coil packs? I just don't know much about these engines. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

You need to narrow it down. See if it is loosing fuel or fire. When it acts up again, have someone listen in the filler neck for the fuel pump to run when you turn the key on. It should run for about three seconds. If it doen't come on then crank the motor and have someone hit on the middle bottom of the gas tank with a rubber mallet and see if it starts running. If it is no spark then it could be a number of things from crank sensor, wiring, ignition module, or ECM. Your codes are for p0121 tp sensor performance and p0172 fuel system rich. The tp code could cause your problem also.

Just a quick guess but it sounds like the coolant sensor is out of wack at higher temps. Just a guess,
Have you had a "check engine" light on????
You need someone to hook up a scanner on it when it acts up to properly decipher the problem.

The "check engine" light is NOT coming on. We did run the stored codes. There are: PO121, P0172 and PO300. We did change the spark plugs because of the PO300 code. Sparkplugs had no effect. Thanks

And hitting the bottom of the tank actually works in times it is a bad pump as john mentioned. I tried it once when i couldnt hear the pump run. I got under the tank and whopped it real good and the pump started.
