Received this e-mail the other day, Don't know if it will work, but at this point may be worth a try.

This may work if we can unite and be strong. Please pass it on to your friends and e-mail contacts. Thank you for your cooperation. Paul

Regular 2.90, Green 2.90, Red 2.72 Union, MI.

A couple of things come to mind. One, pull our troops out of Saudi and tell them they're on their own when Iran comes charging them, our drop the price of the barrel, or let Denmark defend them.

TWO, the biggest bad guys in all of this are the guys on Wall Street driving the price up at the pumps through mere speculation about impending... I'm no fan of the oil companies, less a fan of the brokers being chauffered around and laughing it up all the way to the bank at our expenses.

I would sure like to buy less gas. Spent and even hundred today for gas. At 274.9 in my area 41.00 to fill up the car to take wife 55 miles to her chemo treatment on Tuesday. Filled pickup
59.00 have to drive 96 miles round trip with trailer tomorrow to pick up bull I bought.

The car won`t be used much when that trip over except to go to church. The pickup be used everyday here on the place. Guess I need to sell the cattle and start walking or maybe could get a bycycle built for two.

Here is another viewpoint when the larger oil companies merged that made less competition and we all know what competition can do in the market place. My other gripe is all of the gas guzzlers that we let the young people have as well as ourselves why should the oil compainies cut prices the American public just keeps buying

OK this have never been said i dont think but its a good question.... why is it every time someone over seas or in opec gets a bad case of the chili farts the price immediatly jumps at the pumps and OMG the sky is falling and they spend millions telling us on th news why were paying more at the pumps... but when it starts trading lower... it takes days weeks or even months to notice the decrease???

That PHD did not seem to help you any with the way the real world works. We have people around here that will drive "up town" five times a day with a full size suv or 4x4 pickup to by a pack of smokes for $5.00 bucks and a Mountain dew for $1.39 each time. When they could have bought a carton of smokes for $33.00 at Krogers and a case of Mountain Dew for $2.99.

The only way to reduce the price is to reduce consumption. Exxon/Mobil would just sell their excess gas to the other companies and the price "might" come down by 10 cents but I doubt it. Ethanol is an answer, corn grown by us used by us. Personnally I would like for the prez and the congress to put the oil execs on the hot seat but they would never do that because the oil companies fund the reelection campaigns of the Elephants and jacka$$e$. WE NEED TO GET ETHANOL IN THE ENGINES OF US CARS AND TRUCKS..... .GM, FORD and X-ler could get the new engines to run on ethanol "E85 is what it is called" and get more sales. But the big 3 are run by idiots so not much hope there.

One thing that I really don't get. Why is gas in Venezuela only 12 cents a gallon and elsewhere it's so much?.

You know, I keep seeing these emails too...everytime there's a price increase. It all sounds good: Let's organize, we'll show 'em! etc.etc..... .my first response is, who is this mysterious Coca Cola exec? Why is he involved or even thinking about the oil industry in the first place? Another point to ponder: if we stop buying gas (or boycott) won't they just push the price up more to retain their profits? The oil companies know damn good and well that we're hooked like a bunch of junkies..... ....

One question, who's gas does the stop and pop shop on 33rd and 3rd sell. Or should I buy it from pump and munch ob 15th St N. Both are 2.89. I think it is better if I use my eco vehicle at all times unless I really need to haul something some where. neighbor lady seems to HAVE to drive that 2500HD to run to town to rent movies, guess that Geo metro is too ugly to take out during daylight hours or sumptin

$3.64 US per US gallon here for 87 rattle ping fuel. Want to lower prices? Decrease demand, increase production or reduce operating costs. I can't believe how so many people believe and keep passing around chain letters of absolute B.S.

Add a few more pennies to that price for Montreal gas. Common procedure here is that the hookers in Montreal that work the streets will now accomadate their customers in any secluded area, eg shrubs, a darkened doorway, or a cop car, while the other hooker is keeping the cop distracted. Too many of their clients now are on foot...QR.. Source: Journal de Montreal, Tuesday.

I have also seen this e-mail. In fact my sister sent it to me. To the common lay person it seems like a good idea but lets look at the facts.

If we were to buy the same amount of gas a day just not from Exxon what would happen. We would hurt the mom and pop station owners; period....

The Exxon refinery that I load gas at has several brands. Shell; Exxon; Shamrock; Chevron; Unbranded; Citgo; ect. If you were to stop buying Exxon gas you would just buy another brand and I would still load it at the Exxon refinery and just deliver it to another station.
The same thing holds true for the Shell refinery 80 miles away.
Also refineries put gas on pipe lines that run all over the country. It may come from Exxon but by the time it gets to Maryland it may in fact go to a Shell loading rack.
So a refinery puts XX amount of gas into a pipe line and gets XX out. The difference is called EXCHANGE FUEL. In turn the company (Exxon) would either have to pay or receive cash for the excess.

So lets look at your plan..... .....
Stop buying all Exxon gas. Exxon will still buy oil and refine it into gas. They will still sell it at their loading racks and to the pipe line. In fact if Exxon stopped producing gas at its refineries there would be a major gas shortage and prices would rocket up.
So who did you hurt. Yes you hurt Exxon at the store level since they have many company owned stores but you also hurt all the mom and pop Exxon station owners. In fact you bankrupted them making less stations and giving other companies a monopoly allowing for price increases.

The only way to reduce gas prices (and I am sad to say it) is for America to explore other forms of energy so gas is not the only kid on the block OR by cutting consumption forcing a gas excess in the market. As long as we use SUV's and 4 door 1 tons to run to the corner store for a gallon of milk; and are more worried how we look in front of the neighbors than our bottom line gas will continue to go up.

I have thought all along exactly what you posted in your message. Very well written and to the point, hopefully others will read it and understand it as I have.

That might work if the other suppliers could supply all costumers but there is not enough refiners to meet the demand if we don't buy from those 2.
Lines would be long at one station and no one at Moble or Exxon.
The costumer will then go back to buy from the big two.
Besides Moble and Exxon are supplying other brands so would we really know who we are buying from.
There are no Moble or Exxon stations in my area.

But it might work. I don't know.

I'm doing what I can. Gas was $2.899 here in Bloomington, IN yesterday. Where I work, we have the option of of working 5 eight hour days, or 4 ten hour days. I switched to 4 tens starting this week. I figure it will save me $250.00 a year in gas. I always pay for my gas at the pump with a debit card. That way I'm not tempted to buy snacks or lottery tickets at the counter inside. That's where they make a lot of their profit. Jim.

While it is an interesting idea,I doubt it will fly.Around me (mid Atlantic region)Exxon/Mobil's gas is usually 2-4 cents higher than everyone elses. They are still lined up to buy it.Just about everyone has an Exxon card and aren't afraid to use it.Exxon knows this,it's the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg. They get more at the pump than their competitors, plus they rake in another 30-40% on finance charges, overlimit fees etc.
The aforementioned theory could work if people actually dug in their wallets for cash when they pumped, but with all the easy credit, people will refinance their houses( to pay down last years credit card bills)continue to drive SUV's,drive a 1/4 mile rather than walk and pay $8 gallon(the current price in England) until their credit runs out,or they declare bankruptcy.JMHO
