When buying anything that has to be shipped, best to check out the cost before you confirm the order.

We just got an order from Montreal Canada to our house, in Ontario the cost have gone up 2.5 x since last year.

Last Year $ 57.99 or 0.52 a lb. weight 111 lbs.
This year $114.65 or 1.31 a lb. Weight 87 lbs. The dimensions were aprox. the same.

Upon checking this out, it’s basically well that’s the price.

They charge for - Weight + size LxWxH + from poastal code to poastal code + fuel Surcharge + Gentle Handling $11.00 + $6.00 residential + TAX.

What will it be next year?

You do have to be careful to specify how to ship- I shipped a 10 lb. part to Canada this summer, and there were about 8 different choices, ranging from $16 to over $150! I think for the $150 a guy parachuted out of a helicopter onto your lawn, and gave you a little hug when he handed it over.

I have virtually given up ordering anything that comes across the US border. The relationship between the price quoted of an item from there and the amount you have to dish out to get it into your hands is ludicrous. Getting something through the snail mail postal service is bad enough, especially with border tie-ups, but shipping with courier (FedUP, UPSuks) is like giving them a license to print money at your expense!

If you don't mind my asking, was that shipped by air or ground, and with whom? Your last years figures sound highish for ground.... This years are out of this world. I had a combine concave shipped down fromm Ontario last fall, on a pallet, which would have been cubed 96" tall, and it still only cost about 75 bucks or so. That's probably going 3 times the distance you're talking about. Believe that came by Midland, ground.... I've gotten a fair number of heavy NewHolland parts in from various locations, some deep in the US, and I don't think I've ever paid a hundred bucks yet. One thing for certain though, is that prices are going up.

I just shipped two pallets up from the US (pensylvannia) at 1000 lbs each and it set me back 650$ in shipping. The brokerage and taxes were extra. They were both a 4ft cube. I used a freight broker too or the cost was gonna be higher.

Unreal.
