Not sure how many of you are fisherman, but any good outings yet this spring? The other day I caught two black crappie, a channel cat, and 5 or so bluegill. Add to that a smallmouth bass in March. How's your season going?

I don't fish, but I think if you caught one here in Southwest MO right now it would stir up too much dust.

Where are you located? I'm in northern Illinois, a town called Franklin Grove, about 50 miles straight south of Rockford, and 100 miles west of Chicago.

The fishing has been terrific. Been out thrice this spring. Now if the catching were happening I would be very pleased.

No problem, Slodrool! Due west from the 3rd post on the east fence, go halfway between the two walnut trees, turn left, go twenty paces, over the log, just to the right of the leaning oak. There's an area there about ten yards square where the morels are thick as your forearm and 6 to 8 inches tall. Help yourself!

Re: Equipment for Mushroom hunting? in reply to krazy-ken, 04-17-2006 17:09:36
I always wanted to go mushroom huntin', but I never could figure out what caliber/gauge to use, to keep from spoilin' the meat when you shoot 'em. Or is that one of them archery things? Don't quite seem fair to hunt 'em, since they're not gonna run away from you...then again, you don't have to buy any calls or fancy camoflage clothing, either, or cover scents or tree stands...and you're sure as hail not gonna spook 'em.
