Lots of discussion lately about ethanol. Does anyone have any ideas on the cost of production of a gallon of ethanol?

Once the price of 87 gasoline gets to $3.00 per gallon, ethanol is worth doing. Isn't that a coincidence? Also you got to bear in mind that
all ethanol plants aren't created equal. Don't invest in one that is only generating money from ethanol. Look for a plant that sells the spent corn as an animal feed. CO2 is also a big commodity from the ethanol process and a very desireable byproduct. A well run plant is a money maker, but you've got be aware of the details.

If they are processing corn to make ethanol and not selling distiller's grain.....what are they doing with it? Sounds like misinformation.

A couple of days ago, the wholesale price of regular unleaded was $2.00 per gallon while the wholesale price of ethanol was $2.50 per gallon. So whatever percent of ethanol is added to fuel, the cost to the consumer will go up. It's like High Definition TV. If you can convince the government through lobbying or contributions to make something mandatory, you will make money. Whether it's really necessary, perceived, or made up doesn't really matter. Follow the money to find the real answer.

So now that gas is $3.00 a gallon and ethanol at $2.50 looks pretty good. When gas is at $55.00 a gallon it will look ^%#$ good.

Want to make a wager that the price of ethanol goes up with the price of gas? These companies will take advantage of a situation if given to them.

and what do you all want--- Gas money going to a man (the exon-mobil presidnt) who made 100,000/hr.. or some of the investors(mostly some farmers just hoping for better times) its your choise...

I'd guess it is subsidized and likely ends up costing more than gasoline. And the worst part is It TAKES NO CORN OFF THE MARKET
