I really enjoy going through the photo ads on this site, not that I'm in the market for any more tractors. One thing I've noticed is there don't seem to be a lot of items from the western states where I live for sale. I got it figured out. Our ag economy is so depressed that we can't afford new or up dated equipment, we have to keep using it till it won't go any more,LOL.

Sure seems like most of the tractors for sale are in the east, at least, very far east of me. When I do a search for tractors in E-bay, I search by "closest to me" and usually only one or two with in 400 miles. Its a long way to NY or Conn for those smaller ones. Kansas usually has a few 90 horse with no 3 point wheatland jobs tho. Something like a 871 or 4000 ford---

Kenny,

Probably a good thing too, 'er we'd both be in continual trouble on the home front. :>)

Actually, the reason there are'nt more pics is cause it never quits raining long enough to get the camera out.:-)

In my less than educated opinion, you'll see a lot more antique tractor enthusiasts(sp) in the colder winter climates. I'm in oregon. All though I do go to a few shows now and then, the weather is usually mild enough I dont have to work in doors for weeks at a time.

I've noticed this and there might be a couple of reasons for it. 1. It's too far away for anybody to come get them?
2. The farms out west were a lot bigger than the ones back here and ya'll used those great big old brutes and never really had the little garden tractors. Heck even back when your little tractors were big to us. W9's 650's 660's etc. Harley

I was in a town in extreme northeast Montana some years ago, and came upon the grounds of the Whatever-the-name-of-the-place-is Threshermans Association. Many nice tractors in buildings, many more in various states in the "boneyard". I took the self-guided boneyard tour, came across several likely resto candidates, including a nearly complete MM GB diesel. I talked to the curator about buying something, and he said they don't sell much, but love to trade. When he found out where I was from, he said if I could round up a JD L or LA, he would trade straight across for the GBD, or it would go a long way toward about anything I wanted around there. Seemed funny, because the L is so small even WE don't take 'em seriously!

Good point Harley. When I grew up, 50 percent of tractors were M&M U, later to GVI. Lots of WD9,s. A few like me with LA to 500 to 600 to 930 Case. Not a 3 point in the bunch. Irigated (sugar beets and corn) used IHC H and M,s. You can still buy a 3 point conversion for the M at farm sales-if you got enough money.

And you can still buy a brand new 3 point for an H or M, sometimes for less money than what a beat up used one will sell for at a farm auction.

How do those 3 points work on the H&M's? The only ones I've seen on H's looked so heavy and reached so far back it seemed the front end would be AWFULLY light when in use. The steel looked heavy enough for about 70+hp. Glenn F.
