Got a MH 44 in the other day. Engine was locked up, isn't now but I have one valve that just doesn't want to free up on it. I had 2 that would close but got 1 of them working but the other one just doesn't want to work right. But even with that one valve not working it sure seems to run well. Oh well have the valve soaking with tranny fluid and pushed down so maybe tomorrow I will find that it has popped up.

Be careful with the rope trick tho it works. I used the trick one time to keep the engine from turning to loosen a harmonic balancer bolt on a chevy, then I forgot and started the engine and ended with a cracked block, expensive forgetting.

I don't know anything about the valve placement on that engine but here is a pretty slick trick to free an over head valve. I have done it on aircraft engines and an F-20. With the piston down and the spark plug out, fill the cylinder with 1/8" or 1/4" nylon rope or equivelent, leaving a rat tail sticking out so it can be removed. Rotate the piston upward and let the soft rope push the valve up. Works pretty slick.

That's a clever trick Sloroll. One I'll stick in the back of my noggin for the future.

Never have liked the brake fluid for any thing. Now if I hadn't used the last of my turpentine I would have used some of it but I ran out and don't want to drive 60 miles just to get a can of it. LOL

With the piston "up", remove the keepers, washer, and spring from the valve.

Chuck the stem TIGHT in a good 1/2" VSR drill, and work it up and down, and spray it with "loosen juice" while it's being turned by the drill. Works QUICKLY, and EVERY TIME.

I have found out that with a 50/50 mixture it works real good..Use it all the time on stuck motors..
