I have run accross a Massey 1100 with 5000 hours on it. They said the hour meter STILL works on it. They want about $6500.00 for it as well. What are your comments on these tractors? Any trouble spots to look for? Any thing to be "BUYER BEWARE" of?

Any help would be helpfull, thanks..

Well, I have found a White tractor 2-105 that is REALLY Close by. He is asking $3,000.00. I am not to familure with this brand of tractor. Has anyone else had any experiance with these Machines? It seems from what I read here, that the Hydrolics are the week spot on these things....Any one want to comment?

Anyways the motor needs to be rebuilt, it is the same motor in the Massey 1100. SO thats GOT to be GOOD being the reputation for these MF tractors. Anyways what yalls thought on these?

Neighbor and brother both had one. Brothers would bi center the tie rod and jam when steering was turned hard to port. Would have to hunt up a pry bar to snap it back. Steering wheel motor had slop in it, would have to continually turn CCW to compensate for the crown in the road. Lastly if you stall the engine you have no brakes. None. Try that between gears with 12 ton of chop dragging you backwards down the road. Neighbor had dirty drawers after that ride.

You do have brakes when the engine is not running. Sloppy tie rod ends will cause the tie rod to over center, simple up keep cures that.

You do have brakes when the engine stalls. Read the owners manual.

I guess the reason I ask because I was RECENTLY looking at an Allis Tractor, but I am hereing too many issues with their transmisions so I am looking for something else. So I have run across a couple of the Massey Furgason 1100 tractos. Does any one else know anything about these machines? Also considering a John deere 4020.

I also see that Massey calls their engine a Perkins engine. Anything sugnificant about Perkins?

thanks for your time..

Of any 90 plus hp tractor built from 1965-72, the 1100 is second to none.

YOu won't have to worry a bit about those Perkins engines, I have two, one in a Massey 1105 which is the sequel I believe to that 1100.

Good cheap power at that price... 5000 hrs, if well maintained.. it's still got another few thousand left in her.. I've seen the large 80-150 hp tractors go to 10k before.

Great tractor. I just got one with a loader on it for $7500. I already own an 1130. I like the 1100 better then the JD 4020 Power shift I used to have. They are heavier then comparable tractors. The Perkins 354 engine is tough and pretty good on fuel. They are more user friendly when it comes to operation or service points then my old Deere. Besides your basic used tractor check points(engine, brakes, clutch, etc). Drive the tractor and check the multipower. It should go from high to low quickly and smoothly at any rpm. On the subject of multipower(masseys 2 speed powershift). Be sure to get an owner manual and learn how to properly use it as it has a few different features and safety issues then other 2 speed powershifts. Multipower is more durable then an International TA. Parts are still readily available for the Massey 1100.
