Backed the bale spear right into the almost new rear tire on my Super C. What a sick feeling. Anyway, I've got a 1/4" diameter hole in the tire, although I must not have got the tube, as it has been holding air for the last two days. Is there a way to patch the hole in the tire to prevent future damage to the tube?

www.millertire.com sells a cold patch wonder glop to seal tire wounds. Install a boot inside covered with wonder glop. Inflate the tire to max recomended pressure. Fill the hole full of wonder glop. Deflat the tire down to it's normal 12-15psi working pressure after it's cured and hope for the best. With a clean 1/4" hole you should be ok.

You can put a boot in the tire to save the tube but the problem is even with a boot the cords will dry out faster on the tire. You can also find a place that valcanizes tires which will be a better fix but cost a lot more to have done. You can also boot the tire and then fill the hole with silicone sealer and it will last almost as long as haveing it valcanized
