Somebody told me that if you buy a new florescent light fixture (say a double tube 4 footer for example) and you get a buzz or a humming sound from it, there is a way of getting rid of it. I can't remember who told me or what he told me so if anyone out there can help out, I'd appreciate it.

Gonna bet it's because it's cold. Additionally, you have to buy special bulbs for temps below 54F I believe is the lower recommended temp limit limit for regular bulbs. Regular florescents don't like to ionize in cold weather....BTDT. See your orange box store.

See, regular florescents were made to inexpensively illuminate large manufacturing areas where people work.....that means that there is normally temperature controlling and 54 is a bit low for human comfort. So they designed to cost I guess.
