Just wanted to say thanks to the forum and all the help finding salvage yards and parts for my tractors. Now, maybe OT but, I can't understand why some salvage yards say ( e-mail us and if we don't have the part we will find it ) and you NEVER hear from them, WHY ? Ok maybe e-mail not working or something so you call and talk to a live person and they say ( sorry about e-mail, let me research this and we'll call you, and you never hear from them, WHY? By the way, I included my full name, home address, e-mail address, home, work,and cell phone numbers when I e-mailed and or called. Not all places like this but did run into at least six of this type. I was just wondering WHY ? I understand nobody will be going to call Brinks to handle all the money I will be spending but most of my orders range from a couple hundred dollars to about two thousand dollars. Is it just me, or does it make you ask WHY ?

Let me put another spin on this from the Marketing side of the internet. There are many companies paying top dollar for peoples information. Companies that have internet sites and a "contact me now" option receive hundreds if not thousands of communications every day. They can sell the contacts information for $1.80 each if not more. Think about those little boxes that give you a chance to win a trip, or a free something, the little pieces of paper are worth up to $4.00 each depending on the amount of information they provide. Ever notice after entering in a contest you receive a lot of phone calls selling something or lots of junk mail? Not to say tractor parts / salvage yards do this but I know it goes on with many other internet site.

I don't know if this answers your question, but I would think "If we don't have it we'll find it" really means "If we don't have it, we'll TRY to find it if we have time, and if we do, we'll be in touch to sell it to you". I wouldn't realistically expect them to get back to me just to say they couldn't find the part- that's just a waste of their time. Whether they really try to find it is another question, and probably depends on their time demands. I always call 2 or 3 places, wait a few days to see if they get back to me, then call some more until I find it or give up. It may not be customer service the way you'd like to see it, but its reality, as nobody has time to crank out unconpensated emails or responses unless they have something positive to report.

I sure agree with you ! I'm another Mike in Ohio. I used to have a fair amount of tractors parted out. I could never figure out how some of these yards got so huge so fast with such poor performance ? I guess you just have to have alot of money backing you up and buy all you can then they HAVE to come to you.

I was on a very limited buget and could never get it to take off. This was before this big computer boom. I think getting on line may of helped.

I can tell you one thing for sure,tractor salvage yards are still 10 times better than dealing with auto yards. In my past bussiness I have dealt with them since 1970 and every one of them at one time or another either outright lied or lied through omission and then when confronted with it said,and I quote "well,take it or leave it ,thats the deal". In my opinion,auto salvage and used auto sales are the prostitutes of all bussiness'. Since I have been restoring tractors I have met and dealt with some of the nicest and trusting people ever. The Jorde Decal people are just one of the many that come to mind. We don't have it too bad.

People just don't give a s--- anymore. I have sent out three emails just recently asking for information and have not heard from any. I understand what you are saying and it's verrrry frustrating.

I will try to explain from my limited veiw as a seller. There is no way I could practicly list every part I have available for sale. I depend on inquiries to find prospective buyers. I hate to leave prospective customers with a dead end as I may have the part they need tomorrow but don't want to give a false hope either. I try to answer all emails right away and check up on parts to respond but emails get coverd up with new ones right away and as I age my forgetter works a lot better than my rememberer. So there you have it from me, but nahh, the money aspect don't have much bearing here. I will go out of my way to hunt up a $2 part and get it in the mail. The little sale is just as important as the big one.

Nebraska Cowman;

That says it all right there. The little sale is just as important as the big one.
