I don't see a previous post from you, musta been a while ago..... Not sure on the details.

Looks to be a 6.5 gig hard drive, good for Windows 98 or ME, but a tad small for XP - what you running?

Have you cleared out your internet temp folders & all that,I hate to tell you to throw things away & get you in deep, but generally anything with .tmp on it can be cleared out.

Any programs you do not use, you can go into the control pannel, 'add remove programs' and remove programs you know you won't use ever.

But, you talk about a hd swap, so are you adding a 2nd, or are you removing this one, putting in a bigger one?

Back up everything important before you do any of the above. 'Tis easy to be left with nothing...

Go to add/remove programs in control panel and see if you have any software that you do not use. If you do not know what it is, do not remove.

I assume you"re using Windows XP?

Disk Defragmenter needs at least 15% free space on the disk. You can run it with less, but for best results you need 15%.

To get more free space, try burning files to CD, removing programs you no longer use (make sure you have the installation media so you can reinstall them later if needed).

Depending on how your computer is configured, you might be able to keep your existing hard drive and add another one as a "slave" to the original. Most computers have extra slots and plugs on the ribbon cable to support this.
