I've recently purchased a 250AS(Belarus) and have several questions to someone familiar with them. The owners manual calls for hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic system, but there's a decal on the rear of tractor saying to use motor oil only in hydro. Anyone know which to use.I can find only one dip stick on tractor and that is for engine oil. How do I check the hydraulic fluid and gear oil level and where are places to add these fluids if needed? Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ray Dove

The tractor has internal band brakes,to adjust them there is a little half moon cover on each side of the rear housing that you access from the back of the tractor. There are 4 bolts you remove and take thes covers off.You will then see the band with 2 nuts on it ,one is the locking nut.Loosen the first not and tighten the inner nut until your adjustment comes up to where you have an inch or two of play in your pedals.Tigthen your locknut back up and reinstall the covers.

The reason they tell you to use a heavier oil in the hydraulics is because of the poorer clearences in the system. On a 250 there is a small pipe plug on the side of the trans case for the level.Use gear oil in there ,it is a common well between the rear and the trans.

I've had some experience with the larger Belarus tractors(820, 925). For hydraulic fluid you can use 10w30 motor oil or any tractor hydraulic fluid. Remember these tractors were built in Russia where you can't just go down to the local farm supply, Napa or Walmart and pick up some oil. I would recomend you get an owners manual. If you don't have a local Belarus dealer. You can go online. www.partsforbelarus.com is where I get all my parts, they would also have a manual for that tractor. On the larger Belarus's the hydraulic tank is located above the rear of the engine. Most of the dipsticks and fill points on Belarus tractors of that vintage are painted white.
