8ºbelow zero this morn. I've got my share of snow this year, I took this pic yesterday behind the house by the woodshed, the snow packs down. The sled with me on it weights around 800lbs, if it was all new snow it would sink down to the ground.

Move to Maryland. We had 15" of snow (Some had 20") on Sunday and it has been 60 degrees plus since Wednesday. Strange.

Hey Walter, That wind cut through every thing. I go north through Buffalo 73 to 54 then 5 to Tipton. The 2004 Freightliner FL 70 has some air leaks around the drivers door.

Enjoy the balmy weather! You could be here!
Here at 0600 it was -39°C with a 30km/h wind, for a wind chill of -57°C

Even now, it's still -28°C with 23km/h wind, for wind chill close to -39°C

Fahrenheit and Celcius meet at -40.

-57°C is about -70°F.

My wife was out feeding the cattle this morning on the 666. Took over an hour to warm it up enough to use the loader. That's normally my job when I'm home, but I'm 450 miles away at work.

You a funny thing, when we watch American news, all the bad weather is blamed on a "Canadian cold front", but on our news, it's always blamed on a "Colorado low".

About 350 miles north of the border, but at home at the farm it's about the same, and that's only about 60 miles north.

With the north wind blowing, knowing you have to put your heat source out. Then going back to the station to thaw for 30 minutes before you can take your ice crusted gear OFF!

Mmm Hmm.

Or rounding the corner in a crusher house or car dumper and get the firehose from head to toe during a washdown. An ice mixture of coal and carhartts makes a cold day much colder than it started out. Almost makes you wanna go into the power plant and bearhug the first boiler manifold you come to. Well, that might over do it just as quick.

But your's is worse and thanks for being there.

Had a bit of spring yesterday in Oakdale, Tn.. high in the 60s. High around freezing tomorrow with snow in the forecast fo the rest of the weekend. After reading the other posts, I feel blessed. I lived in Eastern Ontario in my teens. Had to cut firewood once in -10 F. The low that evening was -40. That was back in the sixties, before "global warming" (?????) set in.

Keep warm, everyone.

Good one, Tom!! Last night at one A.M.coming back from Montreal the traffic was rolling at 60 KPH; all except for a couple of hota--es that flew by in the hammer lane . Saw 4 of them checking the scenery from the center median or from the side ditch later. This A.M. as I went outside I had my a-- rapidly make aquantaince with the 4 steps and the slush puddle at the bottom. Around 10.30 the wind got up. Within minutes the slush was freezing hard. Now with a trace of snow visibility is next to nil. There is a no trucks allowed issued for the Montreal bridges, something that is rarely issued. Now into the deep freeze. I guess if I lived on Vancouver Island, this weather would not be happening, but then I could not use my handle of Quebec Red (grin grin!!). Spring might come, eventually.
