if grease and oil damages ruber in tires why do they use ruber hoses on grease guns and oil guns? i have the same hose on my grease pump for over thirty years. just curious. frank7

There are many different types of rubber and other tHings that can look and feel like rubber but are in a class by themselves.
Butyl rubber is one rubber for tire material. Nitrile rubber is often used on things that are in contact with oil and fuel like grease guns and such.

This is one reason why a person can not put motor oil in the automatic transmission or motor oil in the hydraulic brake circuit. The oil would eat the rubber for breakfast

Has something to do with the type/way the rubber is made. Other then that I can't help
