I have a 1995 model 825, with shifter unable to put into any gear. Can the shifter be removed with the cab in place. Any suggestions.

The nut securing the shifting fork was loose, allowing a woodruf key to dislodge from the fork/shaft. After removing the top of the tranny...the problem was obvious as the key was sitting on shifting slides, and it was a simple fix (albeit not a robust design)

Yes. There are access covers in the floor that you can take out. I think that tractor has the newer style shifter, I think it had some problems. You can swap it out with the older style shifter. If you can't put it into gear, just stays in neutral. It's most likely a missing or bent pin. If you can put the shifter into gear and nothing happens thats a completly different problem. I take it that you have tried changing ranges on both the floor lever and the Hi-Lo within the gear shift lever. Sometimes these may stick inbetween and cause the problem your describing. 825's had straight cut gear transmissions no helical cut or sycronizers. So they shift clucky and have a greater chance of getting jambed or locked up.
