I have a 1959 310B with a backhoe currently installed. Behind the driver"s seat there are two arms that curve around the mount plate of the backhoe. Are these the lift arms for an Eagle hitch? Does anyone have any pictures of an Eagle hitch setup?

Most of the older Cat 1 implements will hook right up on the Eagle hitch. On some of the newer equipment you may have to turn one or both pins over for spacing, some may require modification but I haven't run into anything Cat 1 that can't be made to fit very easily.

The best part of the Eagle hitch is ease of hook up and disconnect. You can just back in and the pins will align & latch, then you lift or lower for the top link. You don't have to muscle around to match the pins to the draft arms and you don't need sway chains.

This pix is a 1959 311B GP tractor. The Eagle hitch on the 310B utility tractor is the same.

Joe, Thanks for the picture. They say a picture tells a thousand words. They're right! All I have to do is locate the rest of the lift hardware and I'll be all set. Do you know if the colors are original? My tractor has been painted so many times it's difficult to figure out what the original colors were. Do you know anything about the belly grader option for the 310B's? One came with the tractor when I bought it but the previous two owners never had it connected. There is another set of control valves stacked above the loader controls. I was told these are for the grader. I'm having trouble finding anyone whose heard of this option let alone worked with one. Thanks again for the picture.

The factory paint for your tractor was Flambeau Red and Desert Sunset Tan. I am not sure it is still available from Case. If you post over on the Case board someone will give you the numbers for the color match in major brand paint.

I haven't a clue on the belly grader, try the Case board for that also.

Arms you describe on your tractor are only for backhoe. Very heavy duty

Eagle hitch was Case's version of a 3 point hitch. It looks much like a 3ph but the lift arms have no side to side swing and the end of the arms have a U shape that you can back under the pins of the implement, raise the lift, pull ahead a little and a mechanism locks around the pins. Then you hook up the top link and go. The lift arms are straight and are attached to the rear axle housing of the tractor. Other than no side swing motion I have found the arms to also be a little shorter than most 3ph arms. Spacing is very close to cat I 3ph.

Phil, Thanks for the info. My ultimate goal is to put a york rake setup on the tractor after I'm done with the backhoe. From what I understand the separation of the backhoe is fairly simple. I see what you mean about short arms and no side to side movement. Would you happen to have any liturature or manuals on the hitch mechanisms? Did the configuration of this hitch make it so it would only handle Case eagle hitch implements, or is this setup somewhat universal?

Hi the Eagle hitch will work with a lot of Cat 1 implements but if it is PTO powered you may have to shorten the implement shaft or it may bind up. I will try to remember to get a picture this weekend and try to post it. If I remember ... getting old and the list is getting longer.

As far as I know the Eagle Hitch was a marketing ploy. Unless you wanted to modify the arms they would only fit Case implements. The dealer says "Well, the new Eagle Hitch is great, and we offer a full line of implements to fit it. What can I put you down for?" Good idea for marketing but a pain in the arse for the guy who doesn't own the full line of implements. Our 400B has been modified to bring the arms closer together, and I'm sure most of the other eagle hitches had the same thing done to them.

Oh by the way, the Eagle comes from the Case mascot eagle Old Abe. Very interesting story about him, became part of a batallion in the Civil War.
