You can still get them right from Deere.

Does this mean you have actually bought a tractor? If so, congratulations!

John

Just take your time and wait until you find a good one at a reasonable price. Lots of overpriced ones and ones with problems out there. Some people feel that if it is being sold, it must have a problem otherwise the owner would keep it. Personally I don't subscribe to that theory. I have had good luck buying older used equipment and so did my father before me. If you are not sure if you can pick out a lemon in disguise, hire someone who can tell to come with. DO NOT be afraid to walk away if something isn't right. The cost of repairing major components like engine, transmittion, clutch or hydraulics can quickly drive the cost of cheap used tractor to above that of a restored one.

A 4020 would be a good all around tractor. There is lots of demand for them, but there were a lot built, so there are a lot out there. They have their peculiaritites (SP?) like all tractors, but have stood the test of time.

my two cents

John

First check w/John Deere.Mfgs often have discount programs to retrofit units that came w/o ROPS.That would also insure that proper fit and testing has been done and that it will do the job it is meant to.
