For all of you that have a neat barn structure that encompassed the use of a Conex container, please tell me how it worked out, what’s it looks like, optional floor plans, etc? I've thought about this. With metal building costs like they are, heck, it's 6 of one and half a dozen of another! I just want to find a dry spot for all of my tools and erect a cover for my tractors and equipment. All pictures, sketches and ideas or links to something on the web would be appreciated!--JPM

For the best story of doing this _ever_, complete with pictures, go to:

www. tractor by net . com (take spaces out, gotta get past the filter) and look under the 'projects' area for a post by an 'Eddie Walker' that has the word container in it. It has over 100 messages in it, many many pictures, The guy started out with a simple idea of 2 for walls plus a roof across the middle for tractor storage. ended up living in one of them, turned it into an appartment, even a knock-out for a big screen TV.....

Anyhow, a heck of a resource for working with those things. Think that thread is 2 years old, but gets added to every month or so, and bubbles to the top, so you should be able to find it.

I toyed with the idea that Ken relates below - plus stacking them two high, lean-to roofs on either side. That'd make for a heck of a big barn, with lots of rooms for different uses (half a 40 foot box as a spray booth!)

I priced them out - you can get 40 -footers delivered for about $1800 - $2000 each.

I didn't finish pricing out such a construction, but it does seem like you'd be close to the cost of a pole barn. In essence, I'd be spending about $8000 for two 40' x 16' walls (with additional rooms divided up into sizes that I'm not sure they be what I'd want.

Best use for them may be just for storage "as is" - my dad has an old aluminum trailer, cut off the axles and supports so it sits on the ground. It is 32 or 33 feet feet long, he fits 3 tractors in it for winter storage.

Plus, I (by "I" I mean my wife) decided that such a structure wouldn't fit too well into the neighborhood. So, we (by "we" I mean "I") will have to build something a bit more conventional and a little more expensive.

john; can't send pictures,just get 2 con-
tainers set side by side, however far apart you want them, build a peak roof and
enclose the ends with doors.piece of cake Line the one you plan to use as a shop
with insulation because they get cold inside and condensation will rust every-
thing, tools and such. Worked for me ken
