Any of you ebay sellers that think the fees are ridiculous might consider this alternative. The cost is only $8 per month. No listing fees, no extra charges for additional photos, and absolutely no final value fees. Not too many tractor related items there yet, but I think it is worth a try.

Last week I sold two tractors, a Wisconsin engine and a carburetor for a total of $4598.00. The eBay fees totaled $148.00, which is about 3.5%. I could have spent twice that on local advertising and would have been real lucky to have had half the sales. Sure ebay has it's problems but that's nothing new, that's part of dealing with the public. Scammers and non paying customers were around long before ebay. If you learn how to use it and keep your nose clean, ebay can be very profitable.

If you're a seller you have to ask yourself, "which site will show my item off to the most potential buyers?" That makes ebay hard to beat.

Maybe in time ebay will collapse under their own weight and then other auction sites will have a better shot. I just looked and saw precious little there I was interested in looking at. If other potential buyers have the same opinion, why would I waste my time listing on a site that will be "invisible" to buyers?

I don't know. I paid ebay a little less than 3.5% last year with a success rate of 95% I don't think they are out of line.

Final value fees are from 5% to 8%, how do you get by with 3.5%?

The highest fee charged is 5.25 % and then it goes down from there. Maybe they gave me a break for being such a nice guy? I do sell some tractors and big ticket items and the rate for that is 1.5%

Not to mention all the dead beat bidders that buy and then back out. I've had alot of trouble with this mainly on lawn mowers.

I wish them luck.

Ebay has become a well-fed hog, and is trying to get all the value they can out of their name with their fees on top of fees.
