I'm new to this group and still trying to get the procedure mstraight to post stuff. I'm also new to the antique tractor restoration, but have had a love love affair with them.

Why don't morre people collect the WD9? I see very little material and even less discussion about them. Are they just too big to moove, or are tires too costly or what? I own 4 and want to restore 2. One , a standard and the other a super. Any help out there?

Just how big is a WD9? What kind of HP are we talking about? How does it compare to a Farmall MD?.....what was it used for?

thanks Don SW Ohio

Thanks for the reply,at least I know how to get on the board. I got in cheap and have lots of parts. (3 parts tractors) Tires are expensive though. The one I have running I used yesterday to do some harrowing with. Sure was fun and brought back memories I had as a kid working up in the big bend country of Wa. State.

First welcome WD9 s are kind of restricted to certain type of farming, like wheatland. People kind of collect the tractors that the are used too..besides 3-points are so handy.

Number of reasons, first you mentioned, they are big, you can't move them with a standard car or utility trailer (safely anyway). They are expensive, engine parts are unique to the W9's, so harder to find and more expensive. Also, finding them depends on region, where there were big farms, you find them by the handful, where there weren't big farms, good luck finding one as Kirk said.

I restored my W-9 five years ago. They are not real common here in PA and they are kind of hard to move around, but I love them too.

The cost to fix is too high.
