Thanks so much for those cow-calf pictures. I go to the screen morning and night now to see if there are some new babies on this site. Just good to see nature at its very best snow amd all. Brings back so many memories of our cow days in Iowa, although some are not so fond. In 1983 we got cold rain and ice for 12 days right when we were really geting calves. Cows got disoriented and wouldn't let the calves nurse plus the udders got caked with mud and the litle guys couldn't eat. We lost 3 cows and 9 calves before it was over and was the start of our last days in Iowa. But the sight of a new calf is still one of the little miracles that make farming the ultimate dream. Hope it stays profitable for you guys so we got some good beef to enjoy here on the west coast. Regards Migraine

We've got just a bit more on the ground then you. I can honestly say, miserable calving weather, but we haven't lost one yet.

Brand new, I got this picture when he was less than five minutes old. He's up and at it now, but they did get moved to the barn.

Yeah, that I-80 corridor east of Cheyenne must really be bad, that thing has been closed for some time. They don't close many roads here, but that doesn't mean they should be traveled on without 4-wheel drive. We tried May calving on some one time, but we just didn't have time trying to get farming, and calving done. David

Isn’t that always the way it goes.
Get a bunch of calves on the ground and it starts snowing. Do think that is better than a cold rain though.

It is officially spring here and this is the proof.

Grandpaw always said you can plant your tomatoes with out fear of a frost killing them once the pecan tree buds.

Man, those are great pictures. I sure miss feeding cows in a storm--yea right. Hope you've got a place inside with a light when you need it, to help with the babies.

Aint snowin here. Them calves are tough little rascales. If mamma can get them licked off and the calf starts nursing they can do pretty good in the cold. I think a cold rain would be alot harder on the critters then the snow. All they need is some shelter from the wind. And it is good if you have a place to put the newborns inside when there is bad weather.

Glad I got out of that. Ya"all keep warm and dry and check your cattle often.
