While the 1961 AC D-19 is accepted as the first ag tractor to be turbocharged, they usually mean row-crop tractors. IH also introduced a turbocharged 300 hp 4wd ag tractor in 1961, the 4300. It used a lot of Hough parts, but was oriented to the ag market. One of my neighbors had one years ago, and it was quite a horse. If I only knew where that tractor is now!

I could be wrong, but I believe it was the Allis-Chalmers D-19, in the late '50s or early '60s.

Yes, I think it was the D-19.

It was the Allis Chalmers D-19 Turbo diesel. Year was 1961. That was the first wheeled tractor to use a Turbo charger. There were some construction equipment that used turbos. The D19 had a turbocharged D262 (262 cu. in. diesel) buda diesel engine. Good tractor, very efficient and quiet.
