I would like "input" from anyone who has a Kubota M680 tractor. I would like to know "if" said person is happy with his/her choice of this tractor. I presently own a LongTrac 680 tractor an after looking at the Kubota M680, I'm really impressed! This LongTrac is very hard to find parts, no one knows where to find parts an the local dealer isn't much help! I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you.

You can never go wrong with Kubota. We've had new Deere's, new New Holland's, and new Kubota's. We will never buy anything else but Kubota now. We joke to people that all we do to the kubota's is check the oil once a year wether they need it or not!

The Kubota M6800 is an excellent tractor. Kubota is replacing it with the M7040 and I don't think there are many M6800s left on dealer lots. Only two problems I have noticed. The headlights on the ROPS model are postioned too low in the grill if you're doing loader work. You'll end up covering the light beams with the loader most of the time. That has been changed in the new model by raising the headlights to the top of the grill. The other problem is the seat. I weigh 200 lbs and if I set the dial on the back of the seat to 200 lbs I will end up bottoming out and topping out on any good sized bump. That means the seat bottoms out (bang) and then comes completely up to the top end of the travel range with another bang. I just crank the dial all the way to the top (275# I think) and do without any seat floating action. The tractor is lighter than most of it's competitors which I consider a plus because you can always make a tractor heavier. My neighbor has one that he uses for loader work and he bought the cast rear wheels, weights and has fluid in the tires. It performs very well. He bought that tractor after the brand new New Holland he had had three different problems with the transmission. Each time took several weeks to fix and he finally had enough and bought the Kubota. Now has about 1500 hours on it. Mine has 500+ and no mechanical problems.

Two more things. The M6800 is not available with a 1000 RPM PTO. Unlikely that you would want to hook onto a 1000 RPM machine with 62HP tractor anyway. Its' bigger brothers, the M8200 and M9000, do offer 540/1000 RPM PTOs. And, there is no 7 pin electrical connector offered as factory equipment.

Hello Bill: Thank you so much for your kind words of wisdom. I'm not sure I really need dual speed PTO, nor the 7 pin electrical connector. SINCE I have to deal with "blow sand", four wheel drive is advantageous. As well as the power that the 68 hp. gives. I can not say I have not used this machine. I've moved over 7,000 tons of earth, built two major berms over 150-ft. long. Dug several ditches, used a 12'-ft. disc. and extended my 8'-ft. rear blade to 10'-ft. I am learning where the limits are (yes, the hard way). YOU may laugh now! Thank you.

I don't know anything about the Longtrak, but I do know the Kubotas are a very well built machine and are quickly earning a solid reputation, plus the dealer base is growing and expanding quickly. I don't think you would be wrong to go with a Kubota.

I have a much older Kubota and older Long and the Kubota quality is better. I don't have a parts problem with either tractor, but if you have a parts problem with the Long then that is astrike against it. BTW, do you have the Kubota model number right?

sorry about the mix up on the Kubota tractor model. Should have been M6800. I like the "looks" of this tractor; and all mechanical issues are much better than the LongTrac tractor I have. Maybe I got a lemon. From my "point-of-view", it looks like a bunch of high school children put it together. Anyway, after 500 hrs. of operation in 4.5 yrs., I'm pretty disappointed. Thank you. Let me know your experience. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. Dave
