Thanks for all the ongoing advice. Today I saw a
1980 555 Ford. Overall...not much abuse. The price is 9,500. It comes with an extra bucket & homade 4 way plow set up. BUT to my surprise AND the owners surprise...It didnt run. It did run as long as he poured a mix into the tank. But didnt continue after. He seems concerened and honest and said he will get it running for me so I can try it out dig some holes & such. He seemed ok.
The engine was dirty, but the machine seemd like a typical used tractor....but I didnt see abuse
or wierd things welded up. Whats your opinions...?
He seems pretty honest. Thanks Ace

Re: Used TLB search update...fuel mix in reply to Mike M, 01-14-2006 16:53:26
The mix was gasoline & oil ? I think he said. Looked like OLD BLACK THIN oil at.. best. He had in a water/soda squirt bottle. Said he used it to start his equipment up & didnt like starting fluid. ( who would ? ) Also as it tried to run I said you have a leak....He went to the right side of the engine and said .." oh yea, I forgot to tighten the filter". He seemed suprised it would only try to run as he poured this in I THINK the tank fill ( in front of the cab ?!?! ).. I think he has fuel / line/ pump / air problems...but he says no, and come back ..to try the machine out this week. NO IT WAS NOT cold enough to gel up.
Im I just dreaming too hard to find a runnig backhoe???? Help!!!!! !!!
