Saw this on an Allis site. It is a (evidently German) JD poster stating " My Wife says I can retire when my tractor wears out" And that he is 81. Take a hard look at the JD Tractor they are refering to!

It doesn't say a thing about his JD tractor wearing out. I think they are promoting JD lubricants are good for any brand of tractor, thus making them last longer.

JD used orange seats? LOL Maybe he figured if he painted his tractor green it would resale for about 5 times what it normally would sell for so when he retires he can have a good amount of money to live off of??? But wait, he'll never retire if he is waiting for that allis WD to wear out, just won't happnen. :)

Possibly they're just trying to peddle JD lubricants like pictured and showing they can be used in other makes. Otherwise, thats a big goof somewhere along the way.

I don't see one piece of JD equipment on that poster! But considering JD made it, that doesn't surprise me.

What makes you think JD made the poster? With today's technology anybody could create that poster for whatever reason. I suspect it's a joke or a slam at Allis-Chalmers.

Look all around the poster, in the corners and everywhere else is other JD ads and stuff. I doubt that it is a fake.

Pretty much says that the place wanting the add went to their local add agency , Dewey, Screwem, and How, and told them what they wanted, and the agency, not knowing a tractor from a dictionary, took the first picture they found with an old guyonit, and printed it up and made a gajillion dollars doing it. The corporate image is alive and well. Sure glad I never got caught up in all that high falutin stuff. Harley
