Mornin' Guys,

It is a throw-together outfit anyway; is a cumulation of four different tractors in it's makeup and the only real difference in the two models is the build date.

I'm kinda leaning towards the Hydro 70 decal myself tho.

Whadda think?

Allan

Allan

I like the sound of Hydro 70 myself. If you look up the SN what does it tell you the original tractor was built as? I read a tip for using rattle cans on the John Deere board. After you shake the cans up, set them in hot water for a while. Shake them again and use. I haven't had a chance to use it yet myself, but I'm going to.

John

Hi John,

Yep, I'm going to keep it Hydro 70 like it came out.

What do ya do? Just go to the hardware store and buy some "all-purpose" enamel?

Allan

Its your tractor you paid the bills and repaired her that gives you the right to name it what ever you want. You paint just like i do,no primer with a rattle can.

Hi Gary,

I'm sure toying with the idea of using the rattle can method on that loader of mine. It is clear out in the country and I don't have a compressor out there.

Betcha if I pick a warm day, it'll work. :>)

Allan, I am with Iowa Bob on this on here. Go with The Hydro tags. I sure-enough think it is classer.
Hey! OBTW... You start on the baler, why not get that loader painted to match that sweetheat of a tractor first. now that is a pic I want to see. OH be sure to be seating down if you need any new Hydrolic hoses. Later,
John A.

You read my mind.

I've got to order some bucket teeth and do a little repair on the two side mounts yet, then I'm gonna shoot 'er the original DuAl orange with black teeth and black grapple forks.

I've always got about three irons in the fire, so should have it all done and mounted back up in a couple of weeks.

Yesterday, Ken down in Colorado was saying that they were farming down there already. Might have to put that baler on hold and get inside that rearend of the 966 first as she is gonna be the first out of the starting blocks this spring.

I gotta get all that plowing done early while the ground is still wet enough to work.

Allan, Sounds like you have got you boat justabout loaded if you have to go inside your big girls rearend. I just hope it isn't to serious.
Say since you are shooting paint anyway why not shoot that loader IH red and then put the Du-Al decals on it. It would shur look neat. Just a thought. Since my ol loader matches my 966, and most other varities will paint their loader to match what ever tractor one has. Kinda like haveing a Goosneck stock trailer painted to match your pickup. Anyway it is just a thought. Keep us posted on your 966.
Later,
John A.

Just the kind of guy I am but , I'd put one on either side and keep um guessing. And I might change then from side to side every once in a while. You don't have that many neighbors around to keep guessing and wondering and talking so maybe it wouldn't be that much of a kick. But thats just me. JGS

Nice rig Allan. You got it looking nice...to bad you will get it all dirty in the Spring. I like the 70. What does the data plate say? Guess I am a "all gotta match" person.
Put on her what "you" like...it looks good both ways.

Hey Bill!

You think like me. 'Sides, I've got a 686 also and I'm not bright enough to tell the silly things apart out there in the boonies without the proper stickers on 'em. :>)

Can't wait to get this ol' sow in the field. Yesterday I took 'er for a long pull up our big long hill here. It is so steep that the semi drivers have to get out and lead their trucks up the hill by the reins.

She's a true Farmall; the harder ya push 'em and the harder ya make 'em work, the better they seem run. They just don't like to pussy-foot around. :>)

Hi Allan

I'd go with the Hydro. The tractor looks pretty snappy. I have to admit I enjoy all of your post's, with the picture's and description's they usually make my day. I'm an old Allis Chalmer guy but when I started farming 40 years ago I had a Farmall H and a D-17 later I bought a 400 farmal and 2MH corn picker, and later another 400. Along with several Allis Chalmer's tractors and an Oliver 1655. So I have enjoyed lots of tractor's. I still have a 1957 WD45 and a 1962 D-19 Allis. I Still enjoy playing with these tractors.

Me too. I don't know what it is, but these old tractors give me back my youth and put a purpose in my life again.

Just gotta love 'em. :>)

Yes Sir,

You got it. I took a queue from Cowman tho.

I spend an awfully lot of time on the iron prep, but when it comes time to shoot, I don't dance around with 'em.

No primer and no hardner; just like IH did it. Paint to metal. Seems like it takes forever to dry tho. :>(

My tractors are going back out to the country to work and aren't out to win any prizes. Just kinda like to have 'em looking half way "right and correct" at the onset so I don't upset the coyotes out there. :>)

I missed the part between the side cover being opened on the hydro tranny and it working now, what was the problem with the thing?

Hi Ken,

Had a couple of bad o-rings; one on the pump servo and another on the motor servo. The thing was de-stroking itself like crazy. :>)
