I have a 96 dodge ram 2500 with standard bed. A year ago I filled the box with oats and it contained 56.5 bushels weighing it across the scales. Bud

had a '74 Ford 1/2 ton w/ overload springs - had a wooden stock rack on it - so the solid part was about 1 foot above the normal top of pickup box.....then the slots started -

anyway - put the endgate in - filled her up with oats - went to town - 92 bushel 92*36 = 3312 pounds oats - only had to go 5 miles

our neighbor borrowed it once and hauled his 2200 "calf" to the butcher also

a lot of times we would put 3 700 pound sows in it and take them 40 miles away or 12 210 lb buthcher pigs - that thing would carry anything - we retired it after 20 years and 80000 original miles - tough miles that is

The bed will hold 45-48 bushel, the springs will CARRY a lot less.

And that's about 3000 lb. A little heavy for a 1/2 ton truck.

Measure it, and compute the cubic feet. A cubic foot is .8 bushel, so, once you know cubic feet, bushels are easy to calculate.

My 91 F-150 box measures 96 X 64 X 19 (all inches), using the conversion of .8036 cu ft = 1 bushel, that calculates to 84.07 bushel

96 X 64 X 19 = 116,736 cu in
12 X 12 X 12 = 1728 cu in = 1 cu ft
that makes 67.56 cu ft capacity
67.56 divided by .8036 = 84.07 bushels
