Hello,

I am looking at buying a some used trailer axles. They are not mobile home axles. The sellers thinks they are 9 ton each but isn't sure. They are dexter axles and have duals on them (4 tires per axle) Does anyone know how to identify howmany ton they are? Is it marked any where?

Thanks,
Wayne

At one time they had a tin tag wire tied on the axle that stated information.

Hi Wayne,

Another way is most 9k axles have 4" diameter pipe axles with 2-3/4" x 12" or 3" x 12" brake shoes. I think I got those numbers correct.

10k axles have 5" diameter and 3-1/2" x 12" or 4" x 12" brake shoes.

Up to 2 years ago they had a tag rivited on the rear in the center of the axle, 2 years or newer they are stenciled on. Get that number and call Redneck Trailer Supply (Dexter dist.) at 800-361-8091 and they can tell you the information you need. If for some reason they don't want to help you call me at Trux Trailer and Tractor, Inc. at 800-213-6695 and I can get the information you need.
