I"m looking at a JD that I can't ID. The s/n tag is gone. It was a state tractor, yellow under green, 3 cyl gas, non-adj rear wheels, swept-back adj front axle, 3pt, 2stage clutch it"s in good cond. comes with 200 series loader and old HI-CO 5" brush hog. He"s wanting $6700 what ya"all think?

If I remember correctly. JD made a 820 or 830 in a 3 cylinder design that would have been the size that the state would put a mower on and mow ditches.

The 820 and 830 3-cylinder utilities also were made in diesel only, and he states his is a gasser.

Some of the features sound like brothers JD950. 3 cylinders were japanese Yanmar(sic?) painted green and setup for American market. Fawteen had post yesterday about 50 series, fairly good rep for work and parts availablity. $$?- your decision, new lawnmower rated 25hp cost about that much at stores now. RN

Likely, it's a "300 industrial", which had a 3-cylinder gas or diesel engine, and that would fit in with it being a "state tractor". (The 950's were diesel only.)
