I know this has been discussed before, but here it goes again. I have a new F 150. The first oil change was done by the dealer, they used a blend of synthetic oil and regular oil. I have a choice now to use regular oil, a blend of synthetic oil or just plain motor oil. What has been your experience in making this decision. Tnanks. Stan in calif

well i work for a ford/dodge dealer so my opinion is alittle biased. all ford oil is now a synthetic blend except for the 15w40. if you chose to stay with "regular" oil that is fine, just make sure you use 5w20. the clearences on that 5.4 engine are so tight the 5w30 doesn't do the job. we've seen alot of engine failures due to that. ford recommends 5w20 for a reason.

I would go with a Synthetic 10w30.

I have also written Mobil 1 and Pennzoil and had the same responce as below.

"If a car or truck dealership, service center or other business states that using AMSOIL motor oil in your vehicle will void your new car warranty, ask for that statement in writing and send it to AMSOIL technical Services. If the business won't provide the statement in writing send AMSOIL Technical Services a letter identifying who made the statement, the name and location of the business and what the statement was. AMSOIL will then send a letter to the business informing them that their position is inaccurate, and, in fact, violates existing law. Your name will be held in confidence.

AMSOIL mailing address: AMSOIL Inc., AMSOIL Bldg., Superior, WI 54880"
