Been thinking about getting a cheap trailer to haul my garden tractors around for a awhile now. Today I found a two place snowmobile trailer for sale in the paper. Says it has good lights and tires But it needs to be re-decked. I don't think that redoing the wood on it would be beyond me. They want $50 for it as is. Would this be good for hauling two older cub cadet garden tractors? I hope to have room for both of them and install a toolbox on the front of the trailer. My biggest concern is the open sides. Any of you guys have experiance with somthin' like this or foresee any problems? Thanks for your help. Mike.

1st:Every Trailer is worth 50$, even when it is only the Body with tires and hook. Lights on it and working?Fine! Buy it and sell it for 70, if you have no use for it. For any ideas how to build it up check this:http://de.humbaur-fahrzeugbau.de/5-c2VyaWU9ODAwMA-%7Ede%7Eprodukte%7Eprodukte.html and look for Serie 8000 Multifunktionsanhänger.
If the trailer has to be rebuilded, make it that way, that You have a multi-purpoose. So that you can carry everything with it.

I don't know about yours, but My "125" Cadet weighs about 800 lbs W/O the mower deck. That is conciderably more than my el-cheapo rider. Tim in OR

Most snowmobile trailers are side by side and that snowmobil would not be over 3' wide each so 2 would set side by side on a 7' trailer by being over the top of the tires, now your cubs will if they have mower decks on them will each take 4' of space so trailer would have to be 9' wide or 1' over legal limit with going over top of tires or if between tires and for & aft loading then you need 5' between tires and 6' length per tractor for a total of at least 12' length and then one of your tractors would weigh as much as 2 snowmobiles so the 4:00 X 8" tire the snowmobile trailer would probably have would not have enough carrying capacity, a 4:80 X 12" 4 ply tire would be good only for short distances at slow speeds and this is what a lot of the boat trailers you see setting along side the highway have on them. Me I would get the rear axle with at least a 13" tire from a car junk yard from a front wheel drive car, you would have the springs and schocks you would need and just build my own trailer and you would not even have to do any welding, just bolting

You need to find out the capacity of the axle and springs, the trailer in other words. Then the weight of your two tractors. Does it have tie downs, rings or some such located so you can tie down two tractors. They would need to be chained at 4 places for each tractor to hold them well, one chain from each corner of each tractor. What does the frame look like, rusted or still paint? Wireing working, lights etc.? Tires good, good tread and no cracks? If it looks good and you can put tie downs on it where you will need them and the work doesn't bother you maybe it is a good deal.

Honestly I haven't gone to look at it yet. But I am assuming that it is an aluminum trailer. I also figured that if it will haul two snowmobiles Two cubs shouldn't be a problem. They are heavy for a garden tractor but they aren't that heavy. I am wondering how I would go about straping them down. They would be side by side. Not sure how to run the straps. As for the tie downs I can install them wherever I want them when I put the new wood on. Mike
