Chevy 1500 Z71 question

I drive a 2002 Chevy 1500 Z71, extended cab, short bed. When I purchased the truck it already had air-bag load helpers on the rear springs. (I don't do a lot of hauling but occasionally a JD B or Farmall H on a 18' car hauler.) These air bags help level the truck out when trailer tongue weight is applied. Anyway the question is this...with the airbags, the truck sits higher in the back then the front when empty. Is there a way to level the truck and bring the front of the truck up a couple of inches for a more aggressive stance? I don't want a monster lift kit, just something simple. I've heard that the Chevy dealer can install some sort of torsion bar keys that give the front end up to a 2" lift. Is that correct? Thanks and Merry Christmas.

ALL pickup trucks sit higher in the rear than the front, that's how they are built. Unless your's is excessive, I wouldn't be concerned.

You can change the keys for the torsion bars and tighten them up to get some height. DO NOT do this as it causes wear on the tie rod ends ,pitman arm and your idler arm. when you are not hooked to your trailer dorp the air pres. to 10 lbs if that does not lowre the back of your truck look into a set of lowering shackels from someone like bell tech, but you may need to adjust the airbag brackets. I work in a truck and 4x4 shop and see this all the time

Check with your local shop that does front-end alienments, since you will need to re-alien the front end after it is raised. I had my 95 K2500 raised up, it will make it ride a little more like a truck.....

Sometimes there are standard install air bags available for the front too. Check with NAPA or any other local auto parts house. I know you can ask any local 4x4 center about either air ride suspension as in similar to the hydraulic low riders, but the other direction, or many times there is a 2 wheel drive lift to get that baja truck look. If you would just like to have the truck level when it empty but are not allways close to an air compressor, you can get a small electric compressor for under the hood and they make a dash switch that you can increase or decrease the air pressure just by pushing the switch up or down.

I wonder, has that front end changed in 10 years? My 92 Chev front torsion bars can be adjusted by simply turning the rear torsion bar mount adjusting bolt.
