Going to replace the tires on my Dakota, they are size P265/70R16. Not worn out but want a better bite for my primary vehicle. My old snow truck current has standard GM wheels with LT245/75R16 tires on it. Are these sizes too far apart to mount the old 265s on the snow truck?

You better look at the load rating on those tires before you make the switch. If your other truck has a snowplow on it, you may want the extra ply rating. Better to be safe than sorry. Just trying to point out the drawbacks. JohnG

It should not be a problem, Brian. The width is hardly noticeable. Your speedometer & odometer will be off a little though...

Discount Tire's website has a calculator where you put in the tire sizes and it will calculate the difference. Really something when you start figuring the revolutions a tire will make and how just a little can change a lot.

They both stand about 29 inches tall. I was worried about width of the rims but they seem to be about the same.
