I have a chance to get a LOT of insulated aluminum wire.Stripping by hand is slow and could be dangerous. does anyone have or know of a machine that could speed it up? I cn"t buy a new machine because my source may dry up.

I have saw guys cut a old tank in 1/2 start a roaring fire and throw the alum inthere and the melted alum would run out the bottom thru a small hole and they let it run into large pie pans and made ingonts .

Find a scrapper with a smelter. You will probably need to do a "in kind" share type of thing but will be worth it. Ingots bring a lot more than bare wire.

Also overhead triplex has steel in it. Smelting is the easy way to separate.

You might give this wire stripper a try.

Looks like a real handy machine, Dixieland, but a little pricey. I burn off most of the copper wire I have, but like it was mentioned, aluminum wire has a tendancy to melt. Copper prices have really gone up lately, but it is hard to find any, everyone is holding on to it.

If you burned aluminum wire, wouldn't you end up with a puddle of aluminum mixed with ash and unburned pieces of insulation?
